Green Schools
Green-Schools’ mission is to protect planet Earth – our shared home to which we all belong – and here at the Mercy Primary School we want everyone to be involved. We have and continue to participate in a variety of programmes as a part of Green schools.
Green Schools promotes long-term, whole-school action for the environment. Green-Schools is a student-led programme with involvement from the wider community. The programme is operated and coordinated by the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce (FEE member for Ireland). For more information, click on this link:

- Active CHALLENGES
- Active HOMEWORK
- Active TRAVEL
Creative Schools
In conjunction with the Arts Council of Ireland, the Mercy Primary School is a creative school. This means that we provide opportunities for our children and young people to build their artistic and creative skills; to communicate, collaborate, stimulate their imaginations, be inventive, and to harness their curiosity.
We empower our students to develop, implement and evaluate arts and creative activity throughout their school and stimulate additional ways of working that reinforce the impact of creativity on children and young people’s learning, development and well-being.
Curious Minds
Curious Minds is part of Science Foundation Ireland’s Education and Public Engagement Programme, which aims to increase interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) among students, teachers and members of the public.
At the Mercy Primary School, staff and students engage in a full range of activities and we supply the tools to empower ourselves in teaching STEM, allowing teachers to spark fun and curiosity both inside and outside the classroom.
Seachtain na Gaeilge
Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia is an international Irish language festival and one of the biggest celebrations of our native language and culture that takes place each year in Ireland and in many other countries.
Each year in the Mercy we give all students an opportunity to enjoy Irish, whether they are a fluent speaker, learner or have a cúpla focal, with a calendar of entertaining and fun events for every type of interest and every age group.
Bluestar Programme
The Blue Star Programme teaches primary school pupils about European cultures and the EU through creative activities and projects which complement the national primary curriculum. Each year we participate in this wonderful programme. For further details, please visit https://www.bluestarprogramme.ie/
